The four main categories of immigrants which are there in Canada are the Family Class members, Economic Immigrants, Humanitarian and Compassionate applicants and Refugees.

Family Class

The Family Class is for people who have a close relative that is a blood relative staying in Canada. Those people are the ones who have given a word on offering you financial help. In this situation if you are a citizen of Canadian or a permanent resident of Canada, you can call your spouse by sponsoring, you can even call your child who is dependent on you or you can even adopt a child and call them. Economic immigrants

This is the second category that is Economic immigrants which comprise skilled workers, the people who have some Canadian experience, and those who are eligible under certain business categories. Since 2015, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have provided an electronic system called Express Entry which is there to manage applications for permanent residence who fall under certain economic programs.

  1. Skilled Worker Class

The Federal Skilled Trades Program is there for the people who wish to become permanent residents based on their qualification and work experience which they have in a skilled trade. The Federal Skilled Worker Program applicants are qualified to be permanent residents based on their skills to settle down in Canada and be a part of the economy. The skilled worker category comprises workers and people who have occupational skills, education, and experience that are high in demand in the market of Canada.

  1. Canadian Experience Class

The Canadian Experience Class category is present for those people who are already staying in Canada are having a temporary status but want to go for permanent residency. People who have stayed in Canada for some period which includes foreign workers or foreign students plus they have a good command of English and/or French language are likely to fall under this category.  They also need to have the right skill to be allotted permanent residency there.

  1. Business Class

Business categories include Entrepreneurs, Self-Employed immigrants and Investors who have the funds, skills and are required to carry out every day working in Canada.

Humanitarian and Compassionate applicants

Compassionate applicants comprise of those people who are normally not eligible to be permanent residents of Canada but can go for the process on humanitarian or compassionate grounds. Some of the common reasons include:-

  • settlement in Canada,
  • family ties,
  • the best interest of children, and
  • cost of not granting the request.

 

Refugee Class

The Refugee Class is for those people who have a need of protection and are unable to return to their own country and have a wish to stay in Canada. Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor people from other countries who are entitled to be in Canada as refugees.
