New Ways to get Permanent Residency in Canada for Hong Kong nationals

There is an introduction of two new ways to permanent residence for Hong Kong residents.

For the people of Hong Kong who are staying in Canada as workers or recent graduates. There are certain conditions that are announced by the Minister related to permanent residency. They are:-

  • A person should have a valid temporary resident status
  • The person should be present in Canada both the times that is first when the candidate submits the application and second when the candidate is granted with permanent residence status
  • Meeting the specified language, education, work and eligibility requirements, as well as Canada’s regular immigration application and screening processes and admissibility requirements.

Mentioned below are details on each stream.

Stream A

  • This stream is being set up for Recent Graduates who are staying in Canada on both the conditions that are when the application is submitted and secondly when they are granted with the Permanent Residency.  The candidates who are eligible under this section should have completed one of the following educational certificate or diplomas at a post-secondary institution in Canada in the last 3 years of their stay. Not just this fifty per cent study should be completed in person or via online mode but presence in Canada should be there.
    • bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctorate
    • Diploma in a program that too for a minimum of  2 years
    • Graduate or post-graduate credential (for a diploma or certificate) from a course that is a minimum of 1 year in length; (adding up to the program must need a post-secondary degree or diploma, which must have been obtained no more than 5 years before beginning the graduate or post-graduate program)

 

Stream B

  • This category is created to give permanent residence to workers who are staying in Canada when the application is submitted and similarly they are present when the permanent residence status is granted to them. Applicants  who can apply under Stream B:
    • The person should comprise of a minimum of 1 year of full-time work experience (or part-time which is equal to at least 1,560 hours in total) in Canada in the last 3 years spent.

Adding more to this

  • The candidate should have completed one of the following at a post-secondary learning institution which is inside or outside Canada in the last 5 years:
  • bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or doctorate
  • diploma from a program that is there for a minimum period of 2 years.
  • Graduate or post-graduate credential (for a diploma or certificate) from a program that is at least 1 year in length.
