Top 4 provinces for International Students in Canada

1. Saskatchewan

The student stream of the Saskatchewan Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is one of the easiest immigration paths for international students as there is no points-based system and very low language proficiency requirement. International students would need to meet the following criteria:

- A Valid Job Offer in NOC 0/A/B/C occupation

- Education: Any post-secondary degree that’s 8 months or longer (outside province accepted)

- Work experience: minimum 6 months non-continuous work experience in the province (Paid co-op work experience as full-time student counted); or 6 months continuous work experience if studied outside Saskatchewan

***Work experience and education needs to match the job offer if studied outside Saskatchewan

- Language: CLB 4 if the job offer is in NOC C (not required for NOC 0/A/B)

2. Nova Scotia

The province of Nova Scotia has its own Express Entry system and benefits particularly for international students who have studied and worked in the province. The advantage of this program is that a job offer is not required.  The eligibility criteria are the following:

- Education: Any post-secondary degree (No length requirement, but inside the province)

- Work experience: minimum one-year full-time work experience in the province

- Language: CLB 7 for occupation in NOC 0/A and CLB5 for occupation in NOC B

- Age: 21-55

- Points-based system

3. New Brunswick

Similar to the Express Entry system of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick’s Express Entry system welcomes international students to settle down in the province after they graduate. The highlight of this program is that international students can apply 3 months prior to completing a minimum one-year degree, diploma, or certificate program. Proof of near completion is required from the institution. Other eligibility criteria as follows:

- Education: Any post-secondary degree (No length requirement, but inside the province)

- Work experience: minimum one-year full-time work experience in the past 10 years, International students graduate with 1-year post-secondary program in New Brunswick does not need work experience

- Language: CLB 7

- Age: 21-55

- Points based system (minimum 67/100)

4. Prince Edwards Island

Prince Edwards Island has a special International Graduates Stream where international students who graduated from a recognized institution in PEI with a 2-year post-secondary degree can apply. This program is suitable for applicants with low language proficiency and no previous work experience.  Other conditions need to be met including:

- A valid Job Offer in NOC 0/A/B/C/D

- Education: Any post-secondary degree of at least 2 years (inside the province)

- Language: CLB 4

- Age: 18-59
